Artvin Coruh University is located in Artvin with one of its three campuses alongside the Coruh river.
ACU was among the 17 universities created by the national government in 2007.
It was formed from faculties of science and letters, a health college and a vocational college previously operated by Kafkas University, along with graduate schools of natural and social science.
The main Seyitler Campus accommodates the administration, most graduate work, the faculties of engineering, management, and physical education and sport along with Artvin Vocational School on a 187 acre site.
The City campus’s 70 acres along the Coruh River host faculties of education, science and letter and health science along with the Vocational School of Health. Hopa is home to economic and administrative science, theology and Hopa Vocational School while Arhavi hosts art and design along with Arhavi Vocational School.
In 2020 it became a national specialist unit for medicinal and aromatic plants, connecting to both the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries, while specialist research centres focus on Beekeeping and on Forestry. 
The dormitories have space for 4,200 students.

The Faculty of Chemistry is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Scientist to join the NMR Centre and the Institute of Organic Chemistry. The successful candidate will oversee the operations of the advanced NMR core facility while actively contributing to the research and teaching activities of the Institute of Organic Chemistry. This is an exciting opportunity to engage in cutting-edge and interdisciplinary research in organic and molecular chemistry, supporting and developing NMR-based methodologies, while managing state-of-the-art instrumentation. The position is initially limited to one year with the option of subsequent permanent employment.

Your future tasks:


	Operation and management: Oversee the daily operations of the NMR core facility, with responsibility for personnel, scheduling, and budget management.
	User and research support: Maintain and develop relations with internal and external users, providing scientific guidance and fostering collaborations—particularly within the Institute of Organic Chemistry.
	Instrumentation management: Maintain, develop, and troubleshoot high-end NMR spectrometers (400–700 MHz, solution- and solid-state NMR, EPR, Prodigy and He-Cryo units), ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
	Method development: Develop and optimize pulse programs and parameter sets for organochemical, biochemical, and materials applications; support the implementation of full automation workflows.
	Infrastructure maintenance: Maintain and troubleshoot the associated IT infrastructure (Linux and Windows systems), as well as gas and cryogenic systems (He recovery, gas and liquid gas supply for the NMR Centre and the Faculty of Chemistry).
	Teaching and training in NMR spectroscopy and organic chemistry: Contribute to teaching activities within the Faculty of Chemistry, with a focus on applying NMR spectroscopy and supervision of teaching events at the Institute of Organic Chemistry at the bachelor’s and master’s levels.
	Facility management: Manage budgets, monitor facility usage, and maintain the web-based facility management software to ensure transparent and efficient operation.
	Scientific development: Stay abreast of advances in magnetic resonance and implement best practices to support the Faculty’s and Institute’s evolving research needs.
	Administrative engagement: Contribute to administrative tasks related to research, teaching, and institutional development within both the Institute of Organic Chemistry and the Faculty’s NMR Core Facility.
	The position focuses on supporting and developing research infrastructure rather than establishing an independent research line.

The position

We seek to appoint a tenure-track professor to conduct independent research on emerging issues and future challenges related to food safety and food security. This can include the integration of mechanistic and other studies on potential health impacts with innovative analytical approaches for food and feed. Key research areas include, but are not limited to: (i) Food safety including the assessment of co-exposure and mixture effects of food contaminants via innovative in vitro approaches and biomonitoring, (ii) novel and alternative food sources, e.g. insect-based materials, micro- and macroalgae, or meat substitutes, (iii) linking food-derived molecules and contaminants in human samples with health effects using innovative approaches, impact of microbiome on contaminant biotransformation; (iv) AI and chemometrics in food chemistry. The candidate should not have a research focus in food technology/processing or nutritional sciences. In teaching, the position will contribute to different study programs, inter alia the Master’s program in Food Chemistry, which is unique in the Austrian academic landscape.

In addition to the professors at the Department of Food Chemistry and Toxicology, there are strong links within the faculty to the core facilities for mass spectrometry and multimodal imaging. The faculty also hosts the Doctoral School in Chemistry (DoSChem), whose mission is to equip doctoral students with state-of-the-art experimental, statistical, and computational methods to address complex challenges in chemistry and beyond. Beyond the Faculty, the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the Faculty of Life Sciences, the Exposome Austria Research Infrastructure and the Research Network “Health in Society” provide extensive opportunities for cooperation with researchers from other departments at the University of Vienna.

Setting:

The Faculty of Computer Science of the University of Vienna has world-leading researchers in Computer Science who pursue basic as well as applied research. The UniVie Doctoral School Computer Science (DoCS) builds an essential framework to foster excellence in research and teaching. Its main focus is on young prospective researchers eager to make an impact on both basic research as well as applied problems with collaborations across the University and beyond. The DoCS aims to provide these young researchers with the broad knowledge and expertise needed to perform Computer Science research at the highest achievable quality. The Doctoral School trains doctoral candidates in solving basic as well as applied research questions of high relevance.

The new work group by Prof. Lutz within the research group Workflow Systems and Technology has a broad research focus on topics of business analytics and operations research. The interdisciplinary group aims to develop novel approaches for solving complex decision problems and explaining human behavior in the usage of information technology. For this purpose, the group applies methods from reinforcement learning, explainable AI, natural language processing, and lab experiments. Applications should hence be interested in one or more of the aforementioned topics and/or methods. The particular topics will be determined based on the candidate’s skills and preferences.

Given its interdisciplinary focus, the group collaborates with researchers from both, computer science and business administration. The successful candidate can hence build on a strong network of fellow researchers with a strong knowledge of business analytics and operations research topics.

The appointment is for 4 years, whereby the employment contract is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of 4 years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months.
