The Department of History of Art at the University of Vienna is the largest center for research and education in the visual arts in Austria. It focuses on the visual arts in Europe, Asia, and the Islamic World. Currently there are 2000 students.

The Department of Art History is inviting applications for a position (75%) as University Assistant (pre-doc) specialising in East Asian Art History starting March 15th, 2026.

Your new job:

As a university assistant (pre doc), you will complement the team around Univ.-Prof. Lukas Nickel. Our research and teaching focusses on the art history of East Asia.

The employment duration is 3 years. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 3 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a declaration of non-extension. With appropriate work progress, an extension to a total maximum of 4 years is possible.

Your tasks:


	You participate in all activities at the chair of Art History of Asia (research projects, conferences, excursions etc.)
	You pursue your PhD project
	You hold university courses and supervise students according to the requirements specified in the collective agreement for PhD students

Your profile:


	Excellent Master degree with a thesis, preferably in the field of Art History of Japan

The Data Governance and Security team develops, maintains, and supports system and process security, data governance, data protection compliance, regulatory reporting, and external and internal audit requirements. The team ensures that strategies and procedures in relation to these areas are fit for purpose and is responsible for providing a ‘gold source’ of all student and course information data to ensure best practice.

We are part of the Students & Education Directorate, a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King’s students and their education. As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King’s faculties to do so.

About the role:

The Senior Student Data Reporting Officer role provides essential support to the Reporting team in Data Governance & Security. They will provide operational support for both our external reporting obligations and for the provision of internal student data reports. Providing end-to-end administrative support in triaging requests for reports and managing cyclic reporting requirements, they will be focused on providing insights and analysis for regular requests themed around programme accreditation, student surveys, student communications, and student characteristics.

They will provide support to colleagues and create and continuously adapt processes to improve efficiency of their own area, and within the wider team.

They will also support Education & Students and IT projects at an appropriate level in relation to data held on student record management systems.

This is an exciting opportunity for candidates looking to gain experience in a technical data role, and who wish to utilise their skills and expertise in data analysis. This is an opportunity to grow your skills in data visualisation, SQL and Python.

Essential criteria


	Relevant work experience and/or education: We think a wide range of different work and educational experiences could support you to be successful in this role. Relevant work experience might include work in data roles within the public sector, or student-related roles in higher education. Relevant educational experiences might include higher education in a related discipline, professional qualifications or other training.
	Able to use one or more business intelligence/analysis tools and/or associated languages for example Power BI, Tableau, Alteryx, SQL, SSRS, R, DAX, Python, M, Excel, VBA.
	Ability to conduct accurate and independent research to deliver set objectives
	Ability to gather and manipulate data so that it can be interpreted by others.
	Take responsibility for own decision making, resolve any problems that arise, consulting with others where required
	Ability to establish and proactively build professional working relationships with external and internal stakeholders
	Sound knowledge of the sensitive nature of personal data, and the importance of compliance with Data Protection Legislation.


Desirable criteria


	Experience working within the Higher Education sector
	Knowledge of and previous experience working with student record management systems
	Experience writing PL/SQL or T-SQL in a work context
	Experience creating Power BI report

We are looking to fill a Senior Scientist position as Head of the Outpatient Unit for Research Teaching and Practice (FLPA) at the Faculty of Psychology.

The FLPA combines research, teaching, and practical application in the areas of psychological diagnostics as well as clinical-psychological and health-psychological prevention and intervention across the lifespan. Your future tasks:

As Head of the Outpatient Unit for Research, Teaching and Practice, you will take on the following tasks:


	Organizing and managing the day-to-day operations of the outpatient unit
	Participation in the expansion of psychotherapeutic services offered by the outpatient unit and in negotiations with health insurance companies
	Providing professional supervision and support for existing areas/services of the FLPA (e.g., testing and counseling center)
	Involvement in the planning of specialized training and continuing education programs
	If applicable, own psychotherapeutic services in the outpatient clinic in connection with practice-oriented teaching in the field of psychotherapy
	Optionally: conducting your own research


This is part of your personality:


	Degree in Psychology

The Faculty of Engineering is committed to providing high-quality education in Artificial Intelligence (AI) for undergraduate students to keep status quo. These courses represent key initiatives to promote active learning and interdisciplinary mindset through project-based pedagogy, inspiring students to engage with real-world engineering applications.

We are seeking passionate educators to join our teaching team in designing and delivering lectures, tutorials, and project-based learning experiences in AI-related courses. To ensure the courses remain up to date and relevant, appointees are expected to regularly review and update teaching materials, incorporating the latest developments in AI. The appointed candidate will also supervise student-driven projects within the Faculty of Engineering and collaborative initiatives with external partners.

Candidates with substantial practical experience in applying AI to solve engineering challenges are especially encouraged to apply, as we value professional insight alongside academic excellence. Successful applicants should be comfortable in teaching and supervising in a dynamic international environment.

Qualifications and Requirements:


	A Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science or related engineering fields;
	Demonstrated expertise in Artificial Intelligence, including but not limited to computer vision, intelligent robotics, or large language models;
	Practical experience in applying AI techniques to engineering problems; and
	A strong record of, or clear potential for, excellence in teaching practice-oriented courses, mentoring students, and supervising projects.


Based on the teaching experience and academic qualifications, suitable candidates will be considered for positions ranging from Assistant Lecturer or Lecturer.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary for Lecturer, or up to 10% of basic salary for Assistant Lecturer.
