Job Description COLLEGE OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION Established in 2000, the College of International Education (CIE) is a self-funded unit of the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU), offering full-time Associate Degree (AD), Higher Diploma (HD) and Undergraduate (UG) Honours Degree Programmes at the Shek Mun (Shatin) campus. It is a major education providing unit of the School of Continuing Education (SCE), one of the Faculties/Schools of HKBU. CIE currently enrolls over 3,500 students and is committed to the University’s mission of providing quality whole-person higher education with a Christian heritage. English is used as the medium of instruction at the College. Applications are now invited for the following position: Lecturer II / Assistant Lecturer in Sport (25260672) Responsibilities: The appointee will be responsible for teaching a variety of subjects within the fields of sports science, coaching, and administration. This includes imparting skills and professional knowledge related to these areas, providing academic guidance to students, organising and coordinating experiential learning activities, and assisting in the ongoing review and design of courses and programs. Applicants should maintain strong connections with the sports industry and professional organisations. The role also involves supervising practicum. Requirements: Applicants should possess a higher degree, preferably at the doctoral level, in a relevant discipline, along with substantial teaching experience. A master's degree will also be considered. Candidates must demonstrate dedication and a strong commitment to teaching and education, both within and beyond the classroom. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential. Candidates with less experience and/or bachelor’s degree holders with coaching certificates and/or relevant experience may be considered for the position of Assistant Lecturer. Reference salary range: Lecturer II : HK$38,000 - HK$53,000 Assistant Lecturer : HK$30,000 - HK$39,000 The appointee will work at the Shek Mun (Shatin) campus. The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract ending in August 2027. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement. Proven experience in collaboration with industry. Experience in shaping and delivering collaborative research projects with the application sphere. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and leadership abilities, including the capacity to supervise early-stage researchers. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES A doctoral research (normally PhD) degree in electrical and electronics engineering, microelectronics engineering, integrated circuits design, integrated circuits fabrication, microprocessor systems, digital VLSI design, CMOS digital integrated circuits, or be able to demonstrate an equivalent professional practice and engagement. Self-motivated for innovative teaching. Clear understanding of the philosophy and concept of Syntegrative Education (SE). Demonstrable past teaching/industry experiences or practices aligned with Syntegrative Education (SE). A commitment to Continual Professional Development in all areas of the role as an academic at the university. Ability to work, teach and research in English. Strong team-work spirit. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE A good track record of engagement with business and industry. University-level teaching experience.  Relevant industry experience. Appropriate research experience, including working with industry, for the corresponding academic position level. Experience in intensive teaching and problem-based learning, and a willingness to be innovative in teaching practices.  An institutional builder, able to work with wider disciplines across the college.
