Anderson University is a private liberal arts university in Anderson, Indiana. It has a long-held tradition of Christian values which are still strongly observed. It is often ranked among some of the highest-performing higher educational institutions in the Midwest.

In 1917, the Church of God movement, which valued freedom from authoritative church structures, founded the Anderson Bible Training School. The school went on to develop a wider educational programme, becoming Anderson College and Theological Seminary (and later, simply Anderson College).

In 1988, it became Anderson University. Its seal features the values ‘veritas, fidelitas, utilitas’ (truth, faithfulness and service’).

The university offers more than 60 undergraduate majors, and a variety of graduate programmes. It has seven schools: the Falls School of Business, the School of Education, of Humanities, Music, Theatre and Dance, School of Nursing, Kinesiology, and Behavioral Science, and the School of Theology.

Anderson remains closely affiliated with the Church of God, and it is a member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. Its mission is to help prepare students ‘for a life of faith and service in the church and society’; an Anderson education is guided by the traditions of its founding church. Current students are required to attend chapel at least 18 times each semester as part of their undergraduate degree. Students may choose to join a range of ‘campus ministries’, including for ministries for group study, representation of disabled students, and other purposes.

Students at Anderson take pride in their collegiate sports teams. Anderson University sports facilities including the 4300-seat Macholtz Stadium and the 3000-seat O.C. Lewis Gymnasium. The official mascot of Anderson University is the Rodney the Raven.

The Vietnamese-German University (VGU) is seeking a highly qualified full-time lecturer in Physics and Mechanics in Mechatronics. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in this field or a closely related field and have a strong background in research. Relevant international experience is of advantage. The successful candidate will become part of an international network of universities and research institutes. Teaching Responsibilities In the role of a lecturer, the successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in the Mechatronics (MEC) program. The expected workload for the in-class lecture conduction is 08 academic hours per week, totaling 240 academic hours per year (1 academic hour equals to 45 minutes). Teaching should reflect current research methods and results, and comprises lectures on the following modules: Module 1: Physics (60 AHs) Module 2: Technical Mechanics A (60 AHs) Module 3: Technical Mechanics B (60 AHs) Module 4: Design 1 (60 AHs) Module 5: Design 2 (60 AHs) Module 6: Design 3 (60 AHs) Module 7: Bachelor Project (60 AHs) Module 8: Student Project (60 AHs) The named courses are subject to change upon realistic needs of the programs and joint agreement between the lecturer, relevant Academic Coordinators, and Dean/Vice Dean in charge of teaching. The holder of this job is also responsible for supervising bachelor's and master's theses and mentoring PhD students. Research Responsibilities As a faculty member of a research-oriented university, the successful candidate is expected to significantly contribute to the scientific profile of VGU through innovation. This includes and is not limited to comprehensive activities in basic research as well as applied research in the fields of Physics Engineering, Mechanics Engineering. The ability to apply and generate externally funded research projects is highly desirable. Administrative responsibilities The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the development of the MEC program by participating in administrative, marketing and other public activities of the program in consultation with the Academic Coordinator of the study program and the German partner university, namely Hamburg University of Applied Sciences (HAW Hamburg). She or he is also expected to contribute actively to the academic self-administration of the Faculty of Engineering and university by being willing to stand for election to the Faculty Council, Academic Senate and/or other bodies. Qualification Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Physics Engineering or Mechanics Engineering, or a closely related field, preferably from a well-known international university. A current title of Professor will be a plus, as experience and understanding of the German higher education system and methodology. Other requirements include: An outstanding academic record with a focus on Mechanic applications, especially in design of intensive mechanisms or other areas closely related to it; Knowledge in static and dynamic systems; Knowledge in electric and theromodynamic systems; Knowledge in fluid dynamic systems; Knowledge in mechanical design (2D, 3D), mechatronic development projects; Knowledge in robotics, automobile and aeronautical systems; Knowledge in using artificial intelligence in development of intensive physic systems; Strong track record of successful research activities and publications in international and peer-reviewed journals in the related area; Proven teaching experience with strong self-motivation combined with a passion for teaching and research; Experience in industry is of advantage; Proven excellent English proficiency: Candidates who are from non-native English-speaking countries should include one of the following valid English proficiency certificates; IELTS 6.5, TOEFL 548(PBT), TOEFL 84 (iBT), TOEFL 212 (CBT), CEFR level B2 or Aptis level C1 at the time of application submission. The MSCA programme supports the career development of early-stage researchers through international collaboration, specialized training, and exposure to both academic and industrial partners.  About The Role We are seeking an exceptional early-stage researcher to join our MSCA Doctoral Network as DC5 (Doctoral Candidate 5), focusing on quantitative phenotyping via generative modelling of quantitative MRI data. This exciting PhD position combines advanced machine learning with medical imaging physics to develop next-generation tools for biomarker extraction and clinical decision support. You will develop innovative generative models using vector quantised variational autoencoders (VQ-VAE) and transformer architectures to synthesise realistic quantitative MRI (qMRI) data with controlled anatomic variability. Your work will address a critical challenge in medical imaging: the limited availability of qMRI datasets. By augmenting models with phenotypes from non-quantitative MRI and disentangling image content from acquisition physics, you will create powerful tools that work across different imaging protocols. A key aspect of your research will be developing physics-aware models that bidirectionally map between non-quantitative and quantitative MRI data. Using Bloch equation simulations and cycle-consistent learning, you will create physics-invariant networks for biomarker extraction, segmentation, and classification. This work has significant potential to improve the robustness and generalizability of AI tools in clinical settings. The position offers unique international experience through a series of planned secondments at leading institutions, such as Amsterdam UMC (Netherlands) to apply your generative models to parameter mapping networks, University of Antwerp (Belgium) to validate your MRI simulator with preclinical data, and Institut Curie (France) to develop physics-invariant segmentation tools, to be discussed with the applicant You will receive comprehensive training in Advanced Machine Learning for medical applications, Scientific Computing, Image Processing, and Image Acquisition, while working alongside world-class researchers in medical imaging and AI. Expected milestones include: (1) a covariate-conditioned generative model of qMRI data (M18), (2) a fast physics-based MRI simulator (M24), (3) a bidirectional non-quantitative to qMRI mapping model (M30), and (4) an integrated joint generative framework (M42). This position is funded through a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Network grant and includes full enrollment in a doctoral programme with structured supervision and research training. The attractive salary package follows MSCA regulations, including living allowance, mobility allowance, and family allowance where applicable. This is a full-time post (35 hours/week), and you will be offered a fixed-term contract for 3 years / until the end of the PhD.
