Ambrose Alli University was founded as Bendel State University in 1981. It then became Edo State University in 1992 and took its current name in honour of its founder, the state governor of Bendel.
The university was established with eight colleges and there are now 14 faculties at the university including agriculture, arts, communication sciences, education, engineering and technology, environmental studies, law, life sciences, management sciences, medical laboratory sciences, physical sciences, social sciences, medicine, basic medical sciences and clinical science.
Among the newer buildings on campus is the complex created for the faculty of life sciences in 2018.

Surrey Space Centre (SSC) is a leading force in space engineering research and education. We are looking to recruit a Space Mission Ground Station Engineer to work with the SSC Director and the Centre’s academics to complete a comprehensive upgrade to SSC’s satellite ground-station facility (hardware and software) taking it to state-of-the-art capability. In addition to SSC’s missions, which include the next generation of CubeSats and lunar projects, we also provide mission support for other parts of the University and third parties. This role will be a great opportunity for the right person to work with SSC’s engineers and academics to deliver a leading-edge ground support facility. We are looking for someone who already has a good understanding of the principles of satellite telemetry, telecommand and tracking who is able to make a significant engineering contribution to upgrading the SSC Ground Station’s hardware and software. Additional desirable attributes are: Knowledge and experience of satellite communications, ground stations or similar systems Good practical working knowledge of relevant software tools (e.g.Linux, python, C/C++ & html programming and PC computer networking) Experience of CubeSat mission operations covering mission development from concept to detailed design of the satellite. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The Research Engineer (Modelling and Simulation) will support a one-year applied research project and evaluate a mobile DC microgrid for military tactical applications. The role involves developing detailed power system models in ETAP and MATLAB/Simulink, conducting performance and reliability simulations, and analysing the behaviour of solar PV, BESS, diesel generators, and DC distribution systems. The engineer will also document modelling assumptions, prepare technical reports, support procurement and project operations, and assist in supervising student researchers. This position is ideal for candidates with strong grounding in power system modelling, microgrid technologies, and simulation-based research. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with the PI, Co-PI, and team to design a robust mobile DC microgrid for military operations. Develop detailed simulation models simulation models in ETAP and MATLAB/Simulink for solar PV arrays, battery energy storage systems (BESS), vehicle-based deployable storage, diesel generator sets and rectifiers, DC distribution bus and electrical loads. Implement and carry out simulation studies to analyse system performance under various operating conditions such as extreme weather, load variation, equipment failure and deployment constraints. Perform load flow, transient stability, reliability, and efficiency studies to evaluate microgrid architecture options. Support the integration of various generation assets into a cohesive DC microgrid model. Document modelling assumptions, system parameters, simulation results, and engineering insights for final reporting. Prepare simulation diagrams, charts, and technical specifications for submission. Assist with procurement of software licences and technical equipment. Conduct Risk Assessments and ensure compliance with WSH regulations. Support supervision of capstone project students involved in the project. Work independently and collaboratively to maintain research software and project tools. To communicate and liaise with any internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other ad-hoc duties assigned. Job Requirements Bachelor’s degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related field from a recognised university. Knowledge and experience in modelling and simulation of microgrids or power systems using ETAP and/or MATLAB/Simulink. Experience in distributed energy resources (DERs), PV, BESS, diesel gensets, or DC microgrids is highly advantageous. Familiarity with energy management systems, microgrid control strategies, or predictive/dynamic control will be an advantage. Experience in conducting simulation studies, analysing results, and preparing technical reports. Commitment to supervising student projects and supporting hands-on training activities. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.

About the Institute of Pharmaceutical Science From molecules to medicine The Institute of Pharmaceutical Science (IPS) is concerned with gaining a detailed understanding of the human pathological state and employing this knowledge to discover, design, develop and deliver drugs to the patient with a view to managing disease. It provides the multidisciplinary approach required to contribute to the overall development of pharmacologically active compounds from their earliest stages of conception at the bench through their presentation as medicines, to the analysis of their use within the community. IPS is one of the largest divisions in the health schools and is currently organised in five groups: Pharmaceutical Biophysics, Chemical Biology, Drug Delivery, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and Clinical Practice and Medication Use. There is a vibrant PhD programme with more than 100 students, and a comprehensive suite of postgraduate taught programmes. About The Role The post-holder is expected to carry out pioneering laboratory work in engineering extracellular vesicles (EVs) to create novel delivery systems for oral delivery of mRNA. Experience in isolation and characterisation of EVs, together with intestinal epithelial cell culture is mandatory for the role. Furthermore, the candidate is expected to have strong skills and experience in nanomaterial characterisation and biological assays such as cytotoxicity testing and measurement of cell uptake of materials.
