Algoma University (often shortened to Algoma U or Algoma) is an undergraduate-only public university in Ontario Canada. It was first established as Algoma College in 1965 as part of an affiliation with Laurentian University in Sudbury, Canada. It achieved full university status in 2008 and now offers over 30 academic programmes through three faculties: Faculty of Sciences, Faculty of Social Sciences and Faculty of Humanities. Students have the opportunity to undertake research at the university through work placements, the Undergraduate Student Research Awards and the Experiential Learning Hub among others. There is a wide range of clubs and extracurricular activities that students can get involved with ranging from computer science club, queer coffee club, table top games club and cricket club among others. There are three campuses: Sault Ste. Marie, Timmins and Brampton. Sault Ste. Marie is the the main campus and is located in the heart of the Great Lakes. The Brampton campus is in the lively city of Brampton in Greater Toronto. This is where college graduates and mature students will be able to study for the accelerated Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degrees Timmins is located on the Northern College of Applied Arts and Technology campus in Northern Ontario and offers bachelor's degrees in social work and community development. Shingwauk Hall, which is an integral part of Algoma University, was first set up in 1873 as a residential school for First Nations children (Chief Shingwauk was an Anishinaabe chief, who was instrumental in the establishment of the Garden River First Nation near Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario). It is currently used to house various classrooms, as well as administrative and faculty offices.

Job Description FACULTY OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES ACADEMY OF WELLNESS AND HUMAN DEVELOPMENT Professor/Associate Professor/Assistant Professor in Sports Industry Management (23241166) The Academy of Wellness and Human Development invites applications for the positions of Associate Professor/ Assistant Professor in Sports Industry Management. Successful candidates will be expected to engage in cutting-edge academic research, contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, supervise student projects and dissertations, and participate in departmental activities as required. Candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: sports business analytics, sports tourism, esports, sports media, sports marketing, sports law, or event management. Requirements: A relevant doctoral degree; Strong track record in research and tertiary teaching experience; Substantial publication record in high-impact international refereed journals; and Solid experience in course instruction, research student supervision, programme administration and development, and academic administration.  Those applying for the Associate Professor position or higher should demonstrate extensive experience and success in securing research grants. The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two to three years, commencing January 2026. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Job Description LANGUAGE CENTRE  Teaching Assistant (English Section) (25260123) The appointee is expected to assist the English Section in: (i) developing supplementary teaching and learning materials; (ii) providing support to new and existing English language enhancement activities; (iii) assisting lecturers in teaching; and (iv) performing other duties as assigned by the Head of the English Section and the Head of the Language Centre. Reporting to the Faculty Research Senior Manager, the qualified candidate will contribute to the delivery of faculty-led initiatives and ensure the smooth flow of projects, data accuracy, and timely deliverables. Responsibilities: Research Administration Support Assist with research data collection, processing, and reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance; Provide guidance to departments on research-related administrative matters; and Prepare reports, funding application, and analyses as required. Postgraduate Research Support Support administrative processes for Research Postgraduate (RPg) programmes, including student enquires, document preparation, and data management; and Collaborate with academic units to ensure alignment with institutional guidelines and deadlines.  Research Events and Outreach Coordination Assist in planning and organising faculty research events, workshops, and conferences; Liaise with and maintain clear communication with internal and external research reviewers, guest speakers, and collaborators; Monitor ongoing projects to ensure timely completion and deliverables; and Perform other duties as assigned. Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Urology or a relevant field. Specialty certification in Urology (Board Certification or equivalent) and relevant clinical experience. Eligibility for full, unrestricted medical licensure in Greece, permitting independent practice of Urology. Proven record of undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching relevant to the subject area. Research portfolio and publication record commensurate with the rank sought. Excellent command of Greek and English. Key Responsibilities Develop, deliver, and regularly update content relevant to their specialty across the curriculum of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme, from pre-clinical courses to clinical rotations, as well as in postgraduate programmes. The successful candidate will be expected to engage students through innovative teaching methods, fostering critical thinking, clinical reasoning, professional values and ethical practice. Provide clinical education leadership, overseeing curriculum design and delivery, student assessment and continuous quality improvement, and provide mentorship to junior members of the clinical education team. Provide mentorship and guidance to students, including advising on research projects, theses, and career development. Conduct high-impact research in Urology, securing external funding to establish and sustain these programmes. Disseminate findings through peer-reviewed publications and presentations at national and international conferences. Serve on Departmental and School committees and assist with strategic planning and development. Advance the School’s mission by leading community outreach initiatives, holding leadership roles in relevant professional societies, and building strategic partnerships with healthcare and regulatory organisations.
