Description The Applied Interactive Multimedia laboratory in the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a motivated research or postdoctoral associate to lead the design, development, and validation of material, control systems, and algorithms for next-generation soft haptic actuators and experiences. Note that the research involves significant interactions with collaborators in material science. The developed technologies will be utilized to develop digital twin and soft robot-assisted simulations in the areas of brain machine interaction, wearable haptics, and rehabilitation. Apply your engineering skills to cutting edge scientific research: Instrumentation Engineer (Specialist Technician) The University of Southampton hosts one of a few research groups in the world that collect marine electromagnetic data in the deep ocean. The University operates a deep-towed electromagnetic transmitter (“DASI”) and fleet of sensors that are towed behind the source to measure the electric field. This equipment is operated globally from research vessels, usually as part of international research collaborations. We are looking for an enthusiastic and versatile engineer, to be based at the University of Southampton’s Waterfront Campus, who will maintain and develop this equipment. The engineer will work alongside a small team of engineers working with related equipment. You will be responsible for mobilising the equipment for use at sea, leading a small team of engineers and scientists operating it at sea, and refurbishing it following use. This post offers global travel and working at sea, providing the key datasets required by scientists working at the forefront to better understand how our planet works. The post is fixed-term in the first instance but with extension anticipated if further project funding is secured. To be successful you will have skill level equivalent to the achievement of HND, Degree, NVQ4 or basic professional qualification in technical, engineering or science and/or equivalent technical experience along with knowledge/experience of power electronics, analogue circuit skills and micro-controller embedded systems. We are seeking emerging scholars whose work advances the understanding and treatment of psychiatric disorders and improves mental and physical health outcomes. About the job: Reporting to the Head of Academic Affairs, the Quality Assurance and Regulations Manager will provide strategic leadership in the development, management and oversight of all aspects of quality assurance and regulations within the University. The successful candidate will be required to: Lead the development, management and enhancement of the University’s quality assurance approaches across all aspects of programme approval and review. Lead the planning, design, development and implementation of refined Academic Regulations for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught Programmes and associated guidance, procedures and training. Maintain oversight of the University's external examiner process. Provide professional and specialist advice on academic regulations and quality assurance procedures. Monitor developments within the sector and manage regulatory change as required. Engage with and influence relevant academic governance committees in relation to strategy, policy and practice regarding quality assurance and regulations. Lead a professional team of staff to successfully deliver the regulatory and quality assurance requirements of the University.
