About the Job The University of East London (UEL) in partnership with STRABAG UK is embarking on a collaborative Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) project with the overall aim of development and commercialising a pioneering, sustainable grout made from repurposed organic and earth-based materials. The project leverages advanced materials engineering expertise to deliver an innovative, eco-friendly, low-carbon tunnelling solution that is first-of-its-kind. This will contribute to addressing the urgent need to address the climate emergency and help achieve carbon emissions reduction targets. We are seeking a Civil Engineering and Materials (KTP Associate) to join the team. As a KTP Associate you will deliver an innovative project as an employee of the University of East London, but will spend most of your working time at the company’s premises and sites. Technical Tracing the complex binding, self-forming, self-regulating and self-healing mechanisms (e.g., hydration, silicatisation, sequestration) reactions in Realtime, their interdependencies, and complex response to the environmental factors and controllers. Adaptation of the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) current technology to suit the new grout. Learning, deploying, and transferring a novel risk-based, probabilistic design approach Mastering and deploying a holistic design approach, with diverse performance indicators including environmental, engineering, ecological and financial, alongside logistical targets including workability, time, material procurement and flow. Deploying the novel grout at large for a highly sensitive infrastructure. Overseeing material adaptability, supplier diversification and compliance integration. Transferring the methods, tools, and techniques to STRABAG employees and stakeholders, who will be both technical and non-technical. People and Change Management Working well within the multi-disciplinary teams in STRABAG. Understanding impact on existing staff. Understanding impact, the new material will have on existing equipment and site storage areas. Understanding the challenges in designing/implementing new methods. About You You should have A good honours degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Engineering Geology. A Master of Science (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Tunnelling Engineering, Material Science and/or Engineering (e.g., Concrete Technology), Engineering Geology or a relevant area. Good knowledge of geotechnical engineering and/or engineering materials. Excellent written and oral English language skills. Independence and ability to work with little supervision. An ability to use initiative and apply creativity, to solve problems. An ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams. An Ability to communicate clearly using different means and produce professional reports. An ability to effectively manage time and meet project deliverables deadlines. The Role and Department The Senior Research Contracts Manager will provide expert leadership in the negotiation, drafting and management of research agreements, ensuring that the University's interests are protected while enabling high quality research activity to proceed efficiently. Acting as a senior point of escalation for complex or high risk contractual matters, the post holder will offer authoritative advice on contractual terms, governance requirements and compliance obligations across a diverse range of funders and partners. The role will involve drafting and negotiating a wide variety of research agreements, including collaboration agreements, contract research agreements, framework agreements, subcontracts, sub awards and studentships, working with a broad range of UK and international sponsors and collaborators. The post holder will also contribute to the smooth running of the research contract's function, including co ordinating the development of standard agreements and supporting the design and implementation of robust internal contracting processes and workflows, ensuring continuous enhancement of research contracting across the institution. You will work alongside two otherSenior Research Contracts Managers who provide leadership and oversight for the University's research contracting function, ensuring consistent practice, effective workload management and a coordinated, high quality service. The post holder will build strong working relationships with academic colleagues, Professional Services teams and external partners, providing clear guidance and negotiation leadership that balances institutional risk with enabling research activity. This role is central to ensuring contractual readiness, robust risk management and the effective transition of projects into delivery. A thorough understanding of the UK HEI research funding landscape is essential. Reporting to the Head of Research Operations, you will be a key member of the Senior Management Team. The post holder must be highly organised, detail focused and proactive in solving problems, with the ability to prioritise and manage a busy and varied workload. You will be comfortable working across multiple concurrent projects at different stages of development. As a confident communicator, you will form close working relationships with colleagues across the Operations Team, the Research Development Team, Faculty Offices, Heads of Department, Directors of Research, Department Managers and other Professional Support Staff. We create, share and apply scientific knowledge to improve health by building new technology for cancer imaging and targeted radiation therapy. We engage with industry, hospitals, international collaborators and universities to forge relationships that help take our projects from lab bench to patient bedside. Image X is a part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health at the University of Sydney. We are seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate (level A Step 6) to work on a research project harnessing the power of artificial-intelligence (AI) to improve radiation therapy treatment for patients with cardiac arrhythmias. In this project you will build new targeting technologies based on AI and x-ray imaging that solve the challenges of complex cardiac motion during radiation therapy. The successful candidate will also contribute to the development of advanced non-invasive cardiac mapping approaches, involving multi-signal acquisition, signal processing and inverse modelling. The role is based at the Image X Institute and will be led by Dr Chandrima Sengupta. You will benefit from a strong mentoring environment; lead and be part of high impact research. You will be based at South Eveleigh (formerly the Australian Technology Park) and spend time at our partner hospitals.
