We seek an established researcher in quantum science and technologies with a strong and well-developed research track record, capable of leading and expanding SUAD’s research activities in this area. The successful candidate should demonstrate sufficient academic maturity to sustain an independent research program while contributing to the development of quantum-related teaching. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and academic excellence in teaching, research, and service within the Department and across Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD). As an accomplished scholar with a strong and internationally recognized research record in quantum technologies, the appointee is expected to develop an ambitious research program in theoretical physics and/or computer science, with a focus on quantum information and quantum technologies. Research activities may span the key pillars of quantum technologies—including quantum computing, quantum simulation, quantum metrology, and quantum communication. The appointee will collaborate closely with Sorbonne University and leading research laboratories such as LKB and LIP6 and will receive the resources needed to build and consolidate a Quantum Research Group at SUAD, including access to dedicated funding and co funding mechanisms for doctoral fellowships, as well as opportunities to host visiting scholars. One of the roles of the Quantum Research Group will be to foster collaborations within the UAE and with prominent global partners, supporting the growth of national and regional quantum ecosystems and positioning SUAD as a hub for excellence in quantum science and technology. In addition to research leadership, the successful candidate will contribute to high quality undergraduate and postgraduate education, mentor students and junior faculty and play a central role in advancing the University’s academic mission. From a teaching point of view, the new Faculty will be mainly engaged in teaching intermediate to advanced courses in Physics, Quantum physics and Quantum Information in the programs offered at SUAD, including the Bachelor’s in Physics – Concentration in Quantum Technologies. It is worthwhile noting that the programs are designed by Sorbonne University in France, while teaching is delivered exclusively in English. The programs follow the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), and the diplomas are awarded by Sorbonne University. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop and lead outreach activities in quantum science and technology, including public engagement and broader community programs, thereby strengthening societal understanding of quantum technologies and inspiring future generations.

The Department of Japanese is an established and distinguished scholarly community with a strong international tradition for the teaching of Japanese language and courses in Japanese Studies. In addition to its undergraduate BA programme in Japanese Studies, the department offers an undergraduate Minor Programme in Japanese Studies, as well as possible PhD supervision across the range of the department’s expertise. The department has particular strengths in Japanese Linguistics, Japanese History and Japanese Language Education. Our research staff will have the opportunity to be equipped with applied research skill sets that are relevant to industry demands while working on research projects in SIT. The researcher will be part of the team of the NAMIC Project for 3DP Ship Hull Design. The Research Engineer will play a critical role in the development, validation, and optimization of 3D-printed Ship Hull and Connector System. This includes conducting finite element modeling, ship resistance and stability assessments, as well as overseeing AM process and reporting. The role also involves designing and validating connectors for the modular system to ensure mechanical integrity, printability and adaptability. Key Responsibilities Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: Resistance Analysis: Conduct simulations to analyze wave interactions, buoyancy, and stability of modular floating structures. Optimize designs for dynamic environmental conditions (e.g., waves, tides, currents). Finite Element and Structural Modeling: Develop and implement finite element models to evaluate structural integrity under load conditions. Perform stress, strain, and fatigue analysis for modular components and connectors. Stability Modeling: Analyze stability characteristics of 3DP ship hull under static and dynamic conditions. Collaborate with teams to develop safe and efficient hull design. Design and Development of Connectors: Design robust, durable connectors means for integrated multiple hull modular units Validate connector performance through simulations and physical testing. AM Process and Validation: Oversee the AM process and testing of 3DP ship hull and connector system. Data Collection and Analysis: Gather testing data during for design optimisation. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed technical reports on findings, including recommendations for system enhancements. Present outcomes and progress updates to stakeholders and collaborators. Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including material scientists, engineers, and field technicians. Liaise with external partners and vendors for test site setup and equipment. Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for marine environment. Maintain high safety standards during field operations and laboratory testing. Research Documentation and Dissemination: Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations to disseminate findings to academic and industry stakeholders.
