The role coordinates events and engagement activities, prepares communications for internal and external stakeholders, and plays a key role in delivering the school’s engagement initiatives. The Person We are seeking a highly organised team player with strong communication skills and experience supporting stakeholder engagement and communications in a complex environment. With attention to detail, cultural awareness and the ability to manage competing priorities, you deliver high-quality outcomes and support effective service delivery. The School/Department The School of Medicine and Psychology (SMP) was established in 2023 to bring together expertise from Medicine and Psychology to develop a unique educational and research environment. The focus is to produce psychologists, researchers, and medical graduates who practice compassion, conscience and professional excellence, and with a knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and culture. The school partners with a number of healthcare organisations to deliver teaching and training including but not limited to ACT Health, community practices throughout the ACT and Southeastern NSW. The UK Illicit Project is an NIHR funded 14-month pilot RCT of The Illicit Project-UK a school-based universal drug prevention and harm reduction intervention for older adolescents. The research follows on from an earlier feasibility study funded under the government's Innovation Fund to Reduce Demand for Illicit Substances. It is a collaboration between Liverpool John Moores University, Stirling University, the Matilda Centre at the University of Sydney, the University of Liverpool, and Queens University, Belfast. Work includes contributing to pilot RCT of an effective Australian intervention for delivery in the UK in collaboration with young people and educational professionals; recruiting schools and liaising with school staff; and undertaking surveys and qualitative work with intervention recipients. You will have a postgraduate qualification or equivalent research experience in a relevant discipline, experience of working with young people on research trials or substance use research and a good understanding of the challenges of working in a school environment. About You The Research assistant will undertake research activities in line with the University's research strategy. It is expected that the Research Assistant will work with an increasing degree of autonomy as skills and experience develop. The Research Assistant will contribute to a specialised research program in quantum information theory and quantum optics, with a focus on quantum channel discrimination for high-resolution spectroscopy and AC field sensing. The project aims to develop theoretical frameworks for distinguishing closely related quantum processes that arise in light-matter interactions, and to use these frameworks to extract fine spectral or temporal information from weak or structured optical fields. The successful candidate will work on designing and analysing protocols that exploit quantum-optical channels-such as those encountered in coherent and incoherent spectroscopy To be successful in this position, you'll have / you'll have as a minimum: Evidence of research output including publications, conference contributions and/or technical reports in the field. Theoretical background in quantum control and quantum optics, including the ability to model and analyse light-matter interactions, dynamical evolution. Theoretical background in quantum channel discrimination and quantum metrology, with proficiency in applying information-theoretic tools to develop and evaluate precision measurement and sensing protocols. Ability to work autonomously whilst displaying a strong commitment to work in a team environment, including the demonstrated ability to confidently and effectively work with colleagues, project team leaders, and industry partners. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and effectively manage varying workloads and respond to changing priorities as required. Demonstrated high level of communication skills.
