About the role The purpose of the role is to deliver a full award management function, including reports on work in progress and project monitoring as required and will report progress to Senior Research Grants Administrator and Research Grants Manager. The role holder will maintain detailed knowledge of funder terms and conditions as well as internal financial procedures and regulations, and will apply these consistently, particularly with regard to financial returns. The consequences of non-compliance with financial regulations are severe and the role holder will be expected to develop and deploy a high level of expertise to manage this level of risk on behalf of the university. The role holder will need to have a broad perspective, engaging positively and proactively with the research strategy and service transformation programme currently underway at King’s and embracing opportunities to contribute in different ways This is a full time (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an a fixed term contract until 31/3/2027 . About you To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria Good Standard of General Education (A Level / OND or Equivalent) Good understanding of Research Grants and Contracts Post Award activities in a University or similar environment and thorough understanding of funder Terms and Conditions of RCUK, Wellcome Trust, NIHR, UK and other Overseas Funders and Charities. IT Literate with intermediate / advanced spreadsheet skills (Ability to use macros and pivot tables, experience of using databases , external portals and information retrieval from the internet. High level of numeracy, double entry and accounting principles Excellent communication and organisational skills with ability to lead when required with Practical problem-solving skills and ability to analyse data at different levels and produce meaning full reports Previous experience of working with internal and external auditors with ability to lead on ad hoc work commitments Previous Experience of controlling a research portfolio and maintaining in line with financial procedures. Postdoctoral Researcher in Theoretical Evolutionary Biology  Modelling the Evolution of Sex-Specific Differences in Life History and Immunity Supervisor: Dr. Piret Avila Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Helsinki The Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences and Academy Research Fellow Dr. Piret Avila are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral researcher to develop theoretical work on the evolution of sex-specific differences in immunity and life history traits. We are accepting applications immediately and will continue until the position is filled. The ideal starting date is February/March 2026, but it can be later.  The position involves developing mathematical models to understand how natural selection shapes sex-specific immune strategies. The goal is to generate quantitative predictions testable against empirical data from diverse ecological contexts. We use methods from theoretical evolutionary biology, including optimal control theory, life history modelling, adaptive dynamics, and population genetics. This position is part of the interdisciplinary consortium at the University of Helsinki, Sex Differences in Immunity, led by Dr. Avila, which brings together researchers across evolutionary biology, immunology, genomics, demography, and statistics to bridge evolutionary and mechanistic explanations of sex differences in immunity. Your personal sphere of play: The Department of Sociology at the University of Vienna, a vital unit within the Faculty of Social Sciences, welcomes applications for a Post Doctoral position in an ERC Advanced Grant project centred on the role of emotion in public debate on loneliness, privacy, radicalisation and social isolation under the guidance of Univ.-Prof. Dr. Anna Durnova, Ph.D. This position is offered in the framework of the ERC Advanced Grant project LONERS "Loneliness, Emotions, and Regulation: Understanding Institutions through Privacy". As a Post Doctoral researcher, you will become a member of the Research Team of Anna Durnova, situated at the Department of Sociology.  The team's primary mission is to develop theoretical concepts and analytical tools to understand better current societal polarization, among which loneliness is seen as a crucial area. A special focus of the international team is given to interpretive social research and social research on emotions.  Additional methodological focus is welcome. The project: “Loneliness, Emotions, and Regulation: Understanding Institutions through Privacy” (LONERS) is funded by the European Research Council as an Advanced Grant. Within the LONERS project we aim to explore the relationship between loneliness, privacy, and emotions to help institutions better respond to citizens’ emotional needs. Going beyond conventional views of privacy, it will identify key moments of intervention that respect citizens’ privacy. By examining how loneliness interacts with societal values and norms, the project seeks to outline a framework for balancing privacy concerns with citizens well-being. Your future tasks: Active participation in research and project coordination assistance which means: You build up an independent research profile in the field of political sociology and emotion research. You will independently plan and execute empirical research within the scope of the ERC project outlined earlier. You are involved in  related research project and scientific studies in the area of radicalisation, social isolation and loneliness. You publish internationally and give lectures. You apply for theme-related projects and raise further third-party funds. You mentor students and junior members of the  LONERS project. You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance. You participate in a research project and in scientific studies in the field of political sociology developing your own research interests. You participate in national and international conferences and project meetings. You will write scientific publications. Your tasks will involve literature review, finetuning of analytical schemes to address the political force of emotions and supporting the coordinator in the elaboration of reports, as well as social impact activities.
