They will also assist in organizing workshops and seminars, and perform any additional duties as assigned. The position is rooted in university teaching and contributes to the instruction of training science content and practical skills in the education of sports scientists and teachers in the subject of Physical Education and Sports. Your workplace: As a Senior Lecturer, you will work in the field of training science and take on teaching responsibilities in the Sports and Movement Science programs. Teaching takes place at the bachelor’s and master’s levels and encompasses various teaching formats. Emphasis is placed on conveying training science content based on current scientific findings, as well as on a close connection between theoretical foundations and practical applications. A key focus of the teaching role is on conveying the fundamentals of training science, as well as on the planning, implementation, and evaluation of training processes and performance diagnostic procedures, particularly in the areas of strength, speed, and coordination training. This includes equipping students to plan, implement, and evaluate training interventions tailored to specific target groups, as well as to systematically analyse diagnostic data and their integration into training science-based decisions. In addition, teaching duties may also encompass other areas of training science and include contributions to the teaching of physical education and sports in teacher training programs. The 40-hour-per-week workload includes a teaching commitment of an average of 14 semester hours per week of academic instruction. Your future tasks: You actively participate in scientific teaching, research & administration, which means: You will independently lead courses at the bachelor’s and master’s levels You will actively contribute to the (further) development of course and exam formats You are expected to stay abreast of the current state of the field, engage in didactic professional development, and undertake research tasks during periods when you are not teaching. The Department of Organismal and Evolutionary Biology invites applications for a position as an ecological statistician (Post-Doctoral Researcher) for a fixed term of two years, with the possibility of continuation depending on future funding decisions. The position offers the opportunity to work with globally unique long-term datasets and contribute to high-impact research on how biodiversity responds to environmental change. The role focuses on applying and possibly further developing advanced statistical approaches to connect biodiversity patterns with ecosystem processes. The position is primarily analytical and supports ongoing research within the groups. The work contributes to two major ERC-funded projects: an ERC Advanced Grant (PI Laine) examining how plant–microbe biodiversity and associated ecosystem functions are altered by human disturbance, and an ERC Consolidator Grant (PI Vanhatalo) focusing on predictive understanding of how global change affects ecological communities and ecosystem functions. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in joint species distribution modelling (e.g. HMSC), structural equation modelling, and other advanced statistical approaches, as well as the ability to adopt and develop new analytical tools. Qualifications and profile We are looking for a candidate with a PhD or equivalent expertise in ecology, statistics, or a related field, and strong quantitative and analytical skills. Experience working with complex ecological datasets is essential. The ideal candidate is solution-oriented, proactive, and able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
