The University of Colorado Boulder (CU-Boulder) is a public research university in Boulder, Colorado, established in 1876.
Situated at the foot of the scenic Rocky Mountains, students of the university can enjoy incredible views from campus and take advantage of a range of outdoors pursuits (Boulder has 300 miles of bike routes, and a multitude of national parks and forests, as well as downhill and cross-country ski areas).
The university’s motto, from the original Greek, reads ‘Let Your Light Shine’.
Over the years, a number of Nobel laureates, astronauts and MacArthur Fellows have been linked with the university, either as students, researchers or members of the faculty. The American actor Robert Redford, who founded the internationally celebrated Sundance Film Festival, is an alumnus of the university.
The university has been ranked by Forbes as the 18th the most entrepreneurial university in the nation. According to the 2015 US News & World Report, the university also ranks within the top 10 in the fields of aerospace engineering, ceramics, environmental law, geology, physical chemistry and quantum physics.
CU-Boulder describes itself as having one of the most active college campuses in the US, with athletics and outdoors projects playing a central role in the student experience.
Its sports teams are known as ‘Buffaloes’ and the university is a member of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.
As well as sports clubs, CU-Boulder is home to more than 300 organisations and clubs. Boulder is also served by a plethora of museums and galleries, such as the centrally located Colorado University Art Museum, and students are encouraged to ‘serve the greater good’ through volunteerism and civic engagement.
The university’s alumni network is in excess of 270,000 who comprise an online community and go by the name of the 'Forever Buffs Network.'

The Professional Officers Division (POD) houses a centralised pool of academic staff under the Professional Officers scheme. Professional Officers bring specialised and deep technical expertise developed through extensive industry experience. They provide a critical industry perspective to student learning and applied research, complementing the academic expertise of faculty by translating industry practices and real-world applications into the curriculum. The Professional Officer (Industrial Biotechnology) will work closely with faculty, students, as well as internal and external stakeholders to strengthen operational and translational capabilities. The role supports: The Bioprocess Innovation Platform (BIP) and related research activities, including feedstock processing, fermentation, downstream processing, and prototype sample preparation at laboratory and pilot scales; Industry-facing project execution and translational delivery in industrial biotechnology; Applied learning and Continuing Education and Training (CET) activities. Key Responsibilities: Work closely with faculty and internal stakeholders to ensure the smooth planning and execution of BIP-related activities and projects. Manage and support operations of the pilot-scale microbial bioprocess facilities (Bioprocess Innovation Platform, BIP), including: Project- and operation-related procurement; Consumables planning and resource allocation; tilities management (scheduling, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair coordination); Analytical and process data capture, analysis and documentation; Project documentation, reporting and follow-up actions; Waste management and disposal coordination; Laboratory safety and compliance. Provide hands-on technical support across feedstock processing, fermentation (up to 500L), downstream processing, and prototype sample preparation. The project, "Enhancing Community Engagement in Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Rehabilitation Through the Social Brain Toolkit" involves developing and piloting an innovative model of care - the Social Brain Clinic. The Social Brain Clinic involves student speech pathologists and mentors with lived experience of TBI working together to provide online programs to rebuild communication skills, to people with TBI located across Australia. This role will be embedded within the University of Sydney's ABI Communication Lab (Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Communication Lab - ABI Communication Lab) - a dynamic team of researchers, academics and clinicians who are developing innovative approaches in brain injury rehabilitation. They will take on a range of responsibilities including providing practice education for speech pathology students, supporting research data collection and management, developing resources and project communications, and participating in strategic planning for sustainability of this new clinic.
