A look at the most-read Times Higher Education university rankings articles from the past 12 months

It’s perhaps no surprise that two stories relating to the impact that Covid-19 has had on university performance bookend our list of the most read stories of 2021, given that the pandemic and its effects rage on across the world.

However, several other topics also caught readers’ attention this year, including UK universities’ success in contributing towards the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and humanities and social sciences scholars’ increasing recognition of Chinese institutions.

Below are the top 10 most-read rankings articles of the year, based on website traffic. In all cases, the tables were devised, compiled and published by THE.

10. Health and science subject rankings 2022: results announced

The UK reinforced its world-leading performance in health sciences teaching and research in a year when its top institutions were at the forefront of the global response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
