The Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings are the only global performance tables that assess universities against the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We use carefully calibrated indicators to provide comprehensive and balanced comparisons across three broad areas: research, outreach, and stewardship.
This table on SDG 9 – industry, innovation and infrastructure measures universities’ research on industry and innovation, their number of patents and spin-off companies and their research income from industry.
The list includes more than 300 universities from 63 countries.
The metrics were developed in partnership with Vertigo Ventures.
The list is led by South Korea’s Yonsei University (Seoul campus), while Japan’s University of Tokyo and Sweden’s KTH Royal Institute of Technology complete the top three.
Japan is the most-represented nation in the table with 36 institutions, followed by Russia with 26 and Turkey with 21.
