The African Genome Center (AGC) is seeking to appoint an open-rank faculty member specializing in Population Genomics. This position focuses on investigating genetic variation within and among populations to understand genetic diversity, evolutionary processes, and population dynamics that shape the genomic composition of species. Applicants should demonstrate strong expertise in analyzing population-level genomic data, enabling insights into the distribution and frequency of genetic variation, as well as the ecological, evolutionary, and demographic factors influencing population structure. The successful candidate is expected to have an outstanding publication record in population genomics or closely related fields. In addition, candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach to developing an independent research program, strong collaborative skills, and evidence of interdisciplinary research engagement. This position is embedded within a highly interdisciplinary research environment and offers opportunities to interact with researchers across diverse domains, including genome editing, natural product chemistry, microbial engineering, agricultural and environmental biotechnology, metabolic engineering, and microbiology, among others. Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate include: Supervising graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in population genomics, molecular genetics, and evolutionary biology. Developing and leading collaborative research initiatives in population genomics, with a particular focus on African species. Contributing to institutional research activities, academic programs, and broader scientific and training initiatives. Eligibility Criteria Applicants must meet the following requirements: A PhD in population genomics, molecular genetics, evolutionary biology, or a closely related field. Postdoctoral research experience is highly preferred. Demonstrated expertise in population genomics, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and funded or competitive research projects. This position focuses on the application of high-throughput OMICS approaches (genomics, metagenomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics) as well as metabarcoding to investigate biological systems within environmental contexts. The successful candidate will contribute to advancing our understanding of microbial, plant, and ecosystem-level processes that drive environmental function, resilience, and sustainability. Applicants should demonstrate strong expertise in analyzing OMICS data generated from environmental samples, enabling insights into biodiversity, community structure, functional potential, and ecosystem processes. Experience in integrating multi-omics datasets and linking molecular data with environmental, ecological, or biogeochemical variables is highly desirable. Description The Applied Interactive Multimedia laboratory in the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a motivated research or postdoctoral associate to lead the design, development, and validation of material, control systems, and algorithms for next-generation soft haptic actuators and experiences. Note that the research involves significant interactions with collaborators in material science. The developed technologies will be utilized to develop digital twin and soft robot-assisted simulations in the areas of brain machine interaction, wearable haptics, and rehabilitation. The successful applicant will have the following technical experience in: PhD degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Material Engineering (or related field) OR 3-5 years of industry experience (Research and Development). Significant experience in haptic technologies. Hands-on Lab Building and Rapid Prototyping of Novel Proof of Concepts (Extensive on-site lab work). Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
