Parents left infuriated by teenagers who leave lights on will soon have academic research to back up their case. Computer scientists at the University of Central Lancashire and the University of Birmingham are among those to have won funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council to study teenage energy consumption. They will assess teens' attitudes to using domestic energy, measure how much they use daily and find novel ways to encourage them to make savings.
