The Times Higher Education Asia University Rankings 2025 ranks 853 universities from 35 countries/territories, assessing their research, teaching, knowledge transfer and international outlook using our trusted methodology, based on 18 performance indicators.

Asian universities: highlights

• China leads the rankings, retaining first and second place and holding five of the top 10 spots. China’s university excellence initiative has contributed to its stellar, and growing, performance.
• Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong also feature in the top 10.
• Four countries rank for the first time: Uzbekistan, Bahrain, Mongolia and Syria.
• All six of Hong Kong’s ranked universities make the top 50 for the first time since 2017.
