University of Reading - Dark arts

A new Tate St Ives exhibition opened on 10 October, overseen by the head of the fine art department at the University of Reading. Alun Rowlands is curator of the Dark Monarch: Magic and Modernity in British Art exhibition, which features the work of John Russell, reader in contemporary art and theory at the university, alongside the work of Damien Hirst, Paul Nash and others. Mr Rowlands has been researching and working on the show for the past 18 months alongside his work at the university. He said: "Fine art at Reading has a distinctive history of curating major exhibitions."
