The Open University/UHI - Collaborative process

The outgoing heads of two institutions have announced plans for closer collaboration. Brenda Gourley, who recently stepped down as vice-chancellor of The Open University, and Bob Cormack, retiring principal of the UHI Millennium Institute, made the commitment at the annual UHI lecture on the Isle of Lewis. Professor Cormack said closer collaboration was a natural progression. "In an ideal world, a student on an Open University history degree may be able to pick up modules from the UHI degree in Scottish history, and UHI engineering and science students might benefit from integrating an Open University maths module into their courses," he said.
