Bat's not where I expected it to be

One of Britain's rarest bats, the Bechstein's bat (Myotis bechsteinii), has been found by a PhD student at its most westerly site ever recorded in the UK. Discovered on National Trust land in southwest Wales, the lone male bat was more than 60 miles west of the nearest recorded site in the Brecon Beacons. It was captured by Matt Zeale, from the University of Bristol's School of Biological Sciences, while he was researching the barbastelle, another rare bat, which was also recorded on the same site for the first time.
