An expert in business at The Robert Gordon University has called for a change in attitude towards entrepreneurship, criticising the "reckless" behaviour of entrepreneurs in the wake of the economic crisis. Rob Smith, lecturer in police leadership and management at Robert Gordon, is co-editing an edition of the international Tamara Journal for Critical Organization Inquiry, focusing on alternative accounts of entrepreneurship. Dr Smith believes that the Western media have valorised the brutal behaviour of entrepreneurs such as Sir Alan Sugar and Michael O'Leary, the cost-cutting boss of no-frills airline Ryanair. The special edition of the journal, titled Restoring entrepreneurship in a changing world, will focus on values-driven enterprise instead of "the reckless behaviour that has caused the current economic crisis". Dr Smith said: "Of course, there are already ante-narratives that challenge this perspective, such as the philanthropic endeavours of Bill Gates, and our aim is to highlight these as the sights to focus on."
