Established in 1983 the Navoi State Pedagogical Institute was initially established as a branch of Tashkent State Pedagogical Institute. It then became an independent institution and took its current name nine years later. It started with the faculties of Uzbek language and literature and physics and mathematics and has since expanded to include faculties of foreign languages, physical education, medicine, history, arts, natural sciences and English language and literature. The university has eight buildings which are spread across six different sections of the city of Navoi. It has in the region of 8,000 full-time students, the vast majority undergraduates, and more than 5,000 part-time students including several hundred who study in the evening. It is set for continued expansion, with the national government in October 2021 announcing plans for another 6,000 student places and 20 new disciplines. The international relations department was created in 2018. Partnership agreements have recently been signed with Malaysia’s Management and Science University and for e-training with Sunderland University.

The African Genome Center (AGC) is seeking to appoint an open-rank faculty member specializing in Population Genomics. This position focuses on investigating genetic variation within and among populations to understand genetic diversity, evolutionary processes, and population dynamics that shape the genomic composition of species. Applicants should demonstrate strong expertise in analyzing population-level genomic data, enabling insights into the distribution and frequency of genetic variation, as well as the ecological, evolutionary, and demographic factors influencing population structure. The successful candidate is expected to have an outstanding publication record in population genomics or closely related fields. In addition, candidates should demonstrate a proactive approach to developing an independent research program, strong collaborative skills, and evidence of interdisciplinary research engagement. This position is embedded within a highly interdisciplinary research environment and offers opportunities to interact with researchers across diverse domains, including genome editing, natural product chemistry, microbial engineering, agricultural and environmental biotechnology, metabolic engineering, and microbiology, among others. Responsibilities The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate include: Supervising graduate students and postdoctoral researchers in population genomics, molecular genetics, and evolutionary biology. By integrating advanced materials synthesis with a predictive Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform, we will accelerate the discovery of efficient and sustainable solutions for environmental remediation. We are seeking a highly motivated and creative Postdoctoral Researcher to play a foundational role in this pioneering 18-month project at the Center for Materials Innovation and Technology (CMIT) at VinUniversity. A Unique Opportunity to Build and Lead This is not a typical postdoctoral position in a long-established laboratory. About Us The TOUR (Transforming cancer OUtcomes through Research) team is committed to improving patient outcomes by translating oncology research into clinical practice, with a strong emphasis on patient-centred care and quality of life. Led by Professor Mieke Van Hemelrijck, the team includes a diverse group of researchers—spanning qualitative and quantitative disciplines—alongside clinicians, students, research nurses, and trial coordinators. Together, they work across a wide range of translational oncology projects, with a particular focus on the development and implementation of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs). A key strand of TOUR’s work involves collaboration with the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) Quality of Life Group, where the team contributes to the development and validation of tools to assess health-related quality of life in cancer patients. These projects often involve international partnerships and span a variety of cancer types and treatment contexts. This post will support the studies with the EORTC as well as a collaborative quality of life research project with The Royal Marsden Hospital, focusing on the integration of patient perspectives into cancer care. The successful candidate will be based within the TOUR team and will hold an honorary contract with The Royal Marsden, enabling access to data and facilitating close collaboration with clinical and research colleagues across both institutions.  About the role We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join the TOUR (Transforming cancer OUtcomes through Research) team at Guy’s Cancer. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to internationally recognised research focused on improving the quality of life for people living with and beyond cancer. The role will involve close collaboration with clinical teams and international partners, including the EORTC Quality of Life Group, to ensure that patient perspectives are meaningfully integrated into cancer care and research. The successful candidate will also support a collaborative project with The Royal Marsden Hospital, with a specific focus on the development and implementation of patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) and identified supportive care needs. Reporting to Professor Mieke Van Hemelrijck and the senior TOUR team, the post holder will be responsible for providing administrative and project management support across the quality of life research portfolio. Key responsibilities include coordinating ethics submissions, supporting patient recruitment and qualitative interviews, managing study documentation, and assisting with data collection and analysis.
