We are passionate structural biologists at CEITEC looking for  PhD Candidate: Ribosomal complexes involved in human translation control About this position:  We're excited to announce an open PhD student position in Petr Tesina's Research Group! If you're passionate about studying human translation control, this is the perfect opportunity for you. Our research project focuses on investigating the structures of ribosomal complexes involved in this fascinating process. You'll have access to state-of-the-art cryo-EM instruments at our local core facility, available for regular use. Plus, comprehensive training in cryo-EM techniques will be provided to the successful candidate. Our lab has recently secured substantial third-party funding, including an ERC Starting Grant and an EMBO Installation Grant, so we're well-equipped to support your research. We're seeking a creative, independent, and motivated individual with relevant experience in fields like structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics, or molecular biology. If you have a background in structural biology and translation, we especially encourage you to apply. About the Job As HR Systems and Payroll Analyst, you’ll be a key contributor to the design, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of system and process solutions as well as improving data integrity through operational reporting. You’ll be an expert in MHR iTrent, in particular the Payroll module and Business Objects and will have at least intermediate SQL understanding. You’ll focus on improvements in our Payroll system set up and delivery, as well as supporting reward activities more generally. With a monthly payroll of c2000 staff you’ll provide advice and guidance on the best practice use of our HR System and identify solutions to any problems that arise. You'll also be adept at Business Objects reporting to support data validation processes to maintain data quality and integrity. About You To succeed, you’ll need a proven relevant background with iTrent experience, an expert understanding of transactional HR and Payroll processes, strong analytical and business process knowledge and excellent attention to detail. The Department of Politics and International Relations (PAIR) at the University of Southampton, UK, is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher (100% FTE) to join the Horizon Europe project PLEDGE. This interdisciplinary project, spanning from February 2024 to January 2027, delves into the emotional expressions of grievance politics and implications for democratic governance and political mobilization. Led by Dr. Tereza Capelos, Professor in Political Psychology at PAIR, the Southampton team is at the forefront of groundbreaking research aimed at understanding the emotional dynamics shaping contemporary political landscapes. Project Overview: Website: More information is available at the PLEDGE website: https://www.pledgeproject.eu/   Responsibilities: Engage in conceptual and empirical research on emotionality in politics, focusing on themes such as grievance politics, ressentiment, anti-democratic support, affective polarisation and populist politics  Utilize a range of quantitative and qualitative methods, including experiments, longitudinal surveys, and interviews to explore the role of emotions in political preferences and policy dynamics  Analyse research findings and disseminate results through academic publications, conference presentations, and other dissemination activities  Contribute to project organization and participate in project-related events and activities  Attend regular meetings with the local project team and the European consortium  Contribute to the intellectual life of the University of Southampton through participation in seminars, workshops, and departmental meetings  Disseminate information about PLEDGE research outputs through electronic and social media, as well as in written form.  Selection Criteria: Applicants must meet the following criteria: Hold a PhD in Political Science or Psychology, focusing on the psychological dynamics of emotionality in the context of grievance, populist politics, and challenges to democracy, using experimental and quantitative methods. Possess expertise in the design, implementation, and analysis of experiments and the ability to analyse survey and interview data using STATA, SPSS, R,Nvivoand other quantitative and qualitative data analysis packages. Exhibit project management and data management skills, preferably in the context of quantitative projects. Show active engagement with the field of political psychology through participation in conferences, workshops, and other knowledge exchange events.
