BBSRC wishes to encourage large grant proposals through its responsive mode committees that will tackle strategically important problems within the remit of BBSRC. In particular, multidisciplinary research often requires numerous staff posts at the cross-discipline boundaries, and such research projects can often require up to five years of funding. BBSRC has therefore introduced a procedure to encourage grant proposals valued at between £2M and £5M to be made through responsive mode.
