Research Leadership

With more than 7,700 scientific publications (Web of Science), 1,283 active research projects, 258 consolidated research groups and 16 research institutes, the UB is Spain’s leading university in research output. Its 750 doctoral theses read in 2023–2024 illustrate a dynamic and vibrant scientific community.

The UB is the only Spanish member of the League of European Research Universities (LERU), an elite network of Europe’s top research universities.
