The University of Reading began life in the 19th century as an extension College of the University of Oxford, before being awarded university status in 1926.
Reading is now a leading UK university and home to 17,000 students from over 150 countries. It offers a wide range of degree programmes encompassing the pure and applied sciences, social sciences, languages, arts, humanities and business.
With a reputation for multidisciplinary research and collaborations, the university comprises over 50 research centres, which are recognised centres of excellence, in areas that include agriculture, meteorology, the physical sciences, and European history and culture.
In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, 98% of Reading’s research was rated as being of international standing
It operates across three campuses. Its main Whiteknights campus has won awards for its 130 hectares of beautiful parkland, while the historic London Road campus has recently undergone a £30 million transformation. The Greenlands Campus, situated on the banks of the River Thames, houses one of Europe’s top business schools, along with a fitness centre, business facilities and conference centre,
The university has a strong global presence, with a business school located in Johannesburg, an overseas campus in Malaysia and a newly established joint Academy with Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology in China. It is also runs the Thames Valley Science Park, a cluster of 70 high-tech companies located on its Whiteknights campus.
Reading’s various campuses also feature a sports park, a film theatre, four museums, 300,000 plant specimens, lakes, meadows and a cherry tree orchard.
Its Henley Business School holds triple-accredited status, while The Financial Times and The Economist both consistently rank it as being in the world’s top 50 business schools.
Reading is a lively city famed for hosting one of the biggest annual music festivals in the UK. Over 87,000 music fans attend Reading Festival each summer to see some of the biggest names in music. The Berkshire town is also home to an abundance of parks, shopping and sports facilities.

About the Job: The College of Science, Mathematics and Technology is seeking highly motivated individuals to join the Department of Natural Sciences at WKU. All faculty positions are full-time assignments, effective at the start of the 2026 Spring or Fall semester. These positions are full-time assignments, appointed on a 3-year contract initially, and are renewable upon a successful review of reappointment. A Lecturer is a full-time employee who teaches 30 credits per year (10-month contract) or 39 credits per year (11-month contract) and provides student and learning support services during the assigned period. Lecturers normally teach up to 3 different courses, with each section typically consisting of 22-28 students. Lecturers will be expected to provide high-quality teaching, student advisement, and learning support services, as well as service to the university, college, school, program, and/or the professional community, and perform related work as required. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, and weekend classes, depending on institutional needs. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Faculty positions at WKU offer: $66,000-$72,000 for 11-month Lecturers. About The Role We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a multi-disciplinary research group led by Dr N.Safinia and Prof. A.Sanchez-Fueyo at King’s College London’s Roger Williams Institute of Liver Studies. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative research at the forefront of systems medicine, focusing on the progression of liver cancer and immune mediated liver damage. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team to unravel the metabolic drivers of HCC biology and transplant rejection through cutting-edge spatial multi-omics and computational metabolic modeling. The role involves developing and implementing computational methods to integrate single-cell and spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and metallomics data. Using advanced techniques such as MALDI-MSI metabolic profiling and enzyme-constrained GEMs, the candidate will generate region-specific models to predict metabolic fluxes associated with liver disease. This research will provide key insights into the metabolic alterations driving T cell function within the liver microenvironment in various liver diseases, including transplant rejection and cancer, with the ultimate goal of contributing to the development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. The post is based at the James Black Centre, Denmark Hill campus, and the candidate will report directly to Dr. N.Safinia and Prof. A.Sanchez-Fueyo. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with clinicians, computational biologists, and experimentalists, ensuring that computational models are seamlessly integrated with experimental data.
