The University of Reading began life in the 19th century as an extension College of the University of Oxford, before being awarded university status in 1926.

Reading is now a leading UK university and home to 17,000 students from over 150 countries. It offers a wide range of degree programmes encompassing the pure and applied sciences, social sciences, languages, arts, humanities and business.

With a reputation for multidisciplinary research and collaborations, the university comprises over 50 research centres, which are recognised centres of excellence, in areas that include agriculture, meteorology, the physical sciences, and European history and culture.

In the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, 98% of Reading’s research was rated as being of international standing

It operates across three campuses. Its main Whiteknights campus has won awards for its 130 hectares of beautiful parkland, while the historic London Road campus has recently undergone a £30 million transformation. The Greenlands Campus, situated on the banks of the River Thames, houses one of Europe’s top business schools, along with a fitness centre, business facilities and conference centre,

The university has a strong global presence, with a business school located in Johannesburg, an overseas campus in Malaysia and a newly established joint Academy with Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology in China. It is also runs the Thames Valley Science Park, a cluster of 70 high-tech companies located on its Whiteknights campus.

Reading’s various campuses also feature a sports park, a film theatre, four museums, 300,000 plant specimens, lakes, meadows and a cherry tree orchard.

Its Henley Business School holds triple-accredited status, while The Financial Times and The Economist both consistently rank it as being in the world’s top 50 business schools.

Reading is a lively city famed for hosting one of the biggest annual music festivals in the UK. Over 87,000 music fans attend Reading Festival each summer to see some of the biggest names in music. The Berkshire town is also home to an abundance of parks, shopping and sports facilities.

System Engineering: System and Project Management, Model Based System Engineering, System Requirement Analysis, Architecture Design, Verification and Validation testing Digital Supply Chain: Supply Chain Management, Supply Chain Strategy and Design, Digital Transformation in Supply Chain Marine Automation System:  Marine Electrical Systems, Navigation and Communications Systems, Electrical Engineering Advanced Manufacturing: Cyber Physical Systems, Robotics and Automation, Industry 4.0 (smart maintenance and Industrial Internet of Things) Successful candidates will join the Engineering (ENG) Cluster (one of five academic clusters in SIT) as members of a team of accomplished experts who are passionate about higher education and deeply involved in industry transformation. The appointment will be based on contract renewal basis. Key Responsibilities: Deliver high-quality lectures and tutorials in the specified subjects. Utilise competency-based education principles to develop course materials and syllabi. Mentor and guide students in their academic and professional development. Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects and initiatives. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of the academic programs. Qualifications: A MSc or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Proven teaching experience at the tertiary level. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse academic environment. Preferred Qualifications: Industry experience in microelectronics, system engineering, digital supply chain, marine automation systems or advanced manufacturing. Experience with online and blended learning methodologies.

Job Description SCHOOL OF CREATIVE ARTS  ACADEMY OF MUSIC Senior Lecturer / Lecturer I / Lecturer II in Conducting (Multiple Positions) (25260436) The Academy of Music (https://mus.hkbu.edu.hk/web/) has rapidly emerged as one of the leading institutions in Hong Kong, providing a rigorous and comprehensive music curriculum. Following HKBU’s rich liberal arts tradition, the Academy fosters creativity through performance, composition, technology, research, and pedagogy. With the new Jockey Club Campus of Creativity, the Academy further expands its capacity to inspire and nurture the next generation of creative artists. The Academy is seeking a distinguished music educator and outstanding conductor for the position of Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in Conducting.  Responsibilities: Rehearse and lead the instrumental or choral ensembles; Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in conducting and related areas; Develop networks with regional and international partners for research, performance and recruitment activities; and Collaborate across disciplines within the Academy and with colleagues across the University to further develop the Academy’s strengths in interdisciplinary research, teaching and knowledge transfer. Requirements: A doctoral degree in music or equivalent professional conducting experience; and Collegiate-level teaching and relevant professional experience. The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of two years commencing as soon as possible. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to performance review, mutual agreement, and availability of funding. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The UK Illicit Project is an NIHR funded 14-month pilot RCT of The Illicit Project-UK a school-based universal drug prevention and harm reduction intervention for older adolescents. The research follows on from an earlier feasibility study funded under the government's Innovation Fund to Reduce Demand for Illicit Substances. It is a collaboration between Liverpool John Moores University, Stirling University, the Matilda Centre at the University of Sydney, the University of Liverpool, and Queens University, Belfast. This is a fixed term post for 6 months. Work includes contributing to a pilot RCT of an effective Australian intervention for delivery in the UK. You will work with project researchers to liaise with local education and substance use leads and school staff to help recruit schools into the trial, and to update intervention materials, training packages, and research materials. Due to funding criteria, the research starts in February 2026, hence we are looking for candidates who are able to commence as soon as possible after the recruitment process has completed.  In return, we offer an excellent benefits package including generous annual leave entitlement, pension scheme, induction and development support as well as family-friendly policies.
