IPB University, or the Institut Pertanian Bogor, was founded in 1963, as a state-run agricultural university with the aim of strengthening food security, promoting bioenergy, protecting the regional environment and alleviating poverty. It is the only state university with a focus on tropical agriculture and life sciences – and is world-renowned in this field. Based in the city of Bogor, Indonesia, it is approximately 60km from the capital city, Jakarta. IPB University comprises five campuses: Baranangsiang, Dramaga, Gunung Gede, Cilibende and Taman Kencana. There is a research centre, university farm, animal hospital, student dormitory and library. It has nine faculties: agriculture, veterinary medicine, fishery and marine science, animal science, forestry, agriculture technology and engineering, mathematics and natural science, economics and management and, most recently, the faculty of human ecology. The faculty of human ecology focuses on nutritional sciences, family and consumer sciences and communication and community development sciences. It is Indonesia’s first and only faculty of this kind and is one of three in South-east Asia. A seed centre is being developed at Leuwikopo, Bogor to solve Indonesia’s seed shortages and reduce the need for importation. As well as developing agricultural and plantation seeds, it will also focus on animal husbandry and fishery. IPB University has worked to develop and maintain links with foreign universities such as the University of Wisconsin, the University of Tokyo, the University of Adelaide and the University of Gottingen. Notable alumni include the sixth Indonesian president, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, and several ministers of agriculture for Indonesia. Known as “The City of Rain” because of its high annual rainfall, Bogor City is a popular summer resort. The most popular attraction is the Bogor Botanical Gardens, which is home to 15,000 plants from all over the globe.

About Us We seek to appoint a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Immunology to join the lab of Professor Patricia Barral. The post will be based at the Centre for Inflammation Biology and Cancer Immunology (CIBCI), School of Immunology & Microbial Sciences, on the King’s College London Guy’s Campus. The Barral lab has strong expertise in Immunology and aims to understand how immune cells adapt to their environment and how in turn their influence health and disease. The successful candidate will combine preclinical models and patient-derived samples to explore the metabolic regulation of macrophages in the context of breast cancer. About the role We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate in Immunology to join our research team. The successful candidate will work on an exciting project exploring how lipid metabolism shapes immune cell identity and function. This role offers the opportunity to apply cutting-edge techniques, to address fundamental questions in immunology. You will design and conduct experiments, analyse complex datasets, and contribute to high-impact publications in a collaborative and supportive environment. This project aims to combine preclinical models and patient-derived samples to explore the metabolic regulation of macrophages in the context of breast cancer. As part of the project, you will develop sophisticated ex vivo and in vivo approaches to identify lipid metabolic pathways controlling macrophage functions and how these in turn regulate breast cancer progression and response to treatment. This is a full-time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31st March 2029. Research staff at King’s are entitled to at least 10 days per year (pro-rata) for professional development. This entitlement, from the Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers, applies to Postdocs, Research Assistants, Research and Teaching Technicians, Teaching Fellows and AEP equivalent up to and including grade 7. About You To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience: Essential criteria PhD in Biological/Biomedical sciences * Evidence of excellent research productivity - primary author in scientific publications and conference presentations Laboratory-based experience in cellular and molecular Immunology techniques including cell culture, purification of primary cells, flow-cytometry, qPCR, ELISA, etc Experience in in-vivo animal models of disease and/or transgenic/KO related work Excellent communication and organizational skills- ability to communicate complex scientific concepts Ability to work independently and as part of a team Experience with data analysis and interpretation Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical challenges  * Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. The primary responsibility of this role is to deliver on an academic research project funded by HTX, where you will be part of the research team under the project titled: Occupant Tenability and Time to Flashover in Small-Sized Flats (Numerical Study Phase) Under this job, you will develop a CFD modelling platform to study effects of different ventilation factors on an occupant’s tenability when trapped in the bedroom and have a reliable time to flashover within representative HDB units. Job Responsibilities:  Participate in and manage the research project with Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI and the research team members to ensure all project deliverables are met. Undertake these responsibilities in the project: Assists in co-supervision of final year projects (FYP) or capstone projects students under the Project PI. Meeting the deliverables by carrying out the computational simulations and experimental studies planned for under the scope of work of the projects within the timeframe to meet the deliverables. Assists the PI in drafting of reports, conference proceedings and journal articles based on the outcome of the projects. Prepares and shares fortnightly report of results from the computations with the PI. Carry out Risk Assessment, and ensure compliance with Work, Safety and Health Regulations. Coordinate procurement and liaison with vendors/suppliers. To communicate and liaise with any internal and external stakeholders to ensure project deliverables are met. Any other adhoc duties assigned by Supervisor. Work independently, as well as within a team, to ensure proper operation and maintenance of equipment. Job Requirements: Master or Ph.D (preferred) in Mechanical Engineering, Fire Engineering or related fields. Strong knowledge and experience in flashover/building fire simulation is high advantageous. Hands on experience on experimental studies Familiarity with CFD applications working on industrial related projects using high performance computing clusters would also be advantageous Strong foundation in Fluid Dynamics Strong prior experience in CFD – particularly in building fire combustion and spread.
