Your key responsibilities will include several of the following: demonstrate research excellence in representation theory, algebra, combinatorics or related fieldsdevelop and document algorithms to assist mathematical research and discoverydevelop research collaborationsassist with grant writing and the publishing of original worksupervise students at undergraduate and postgraduate levelscontribute to successful applications for competitive research grants and/ or funding to deliver research impactdevelop your profile and the profile of SMRI in the above areas through conferences and seminars. This position does not require teaching, but opportunities may be available for those who are interested. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Research Associate / Fellow who has: a PhD (or near completion) in mathematics or statisticsdemonstrated evidence of independent research ability and potentialprimary research interests in representation theory, broadly interpreteddemonstrated excellence in written and oral communications skills, interacting with a variety of researchers and stakeholdersexperience in at least one (1) of the following topics: representation theory (e.g. Lie/quantum groups, Hecke algebras and related structures, geometric/higher representation theory)Category theory (especially monoidal/tensor categories; diagrammatic or categorified settings welcome)Combinatorial / analytic methods for algebraic structures (e.g. asymptotics, generating functions, probabilistic methods, analytic combinatorics) Pre-employment checks Your employment is conditional upon the completion of all role required pre-employment or background checks in terms satisfactory to the University.
