Established in 1855 as the Federal Polytechnic School, a century and a half later ETH Zurich is now considered among some of the world's most prestigious universities in science and technology.

The institute has produced over 20 Nobel Prize Laureates, including the father of modern physics and the inventor of the general theory of relativity Albert Einstein.

The university, commonly known as Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich or Poly for short, has based its success on Swiss traditions of cherishing fundamental principles of freedom, individual responsibility, entrepreneurial spirit and open-minded approach to education. It remains a European research pioneer, which tries to offer practical solutions, which address worldwide challenges.

With 16 departments that conduct solid academic interdisciplinary research in subjects ranging from architecture and biology to chemistry and physics, the university makes a notable contribution to the global science and technology industry.

To achieve this, ETH Zurich heavily relies on its strong ties with researchers, foreign partners and key stakeholders who also support its cutting-edge research.

Our core business activities are teaching and learning, widening access to education, research and innovation and technology and knowledge transfer. - THE ROLE - The Research Associate will contribute to the development, implementation, and calibration of a novel multifrequency open-loop Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy (MF-OL-WT-KPFM) technique for advanced nanoscale electrical characterisation. The role will involve close collaboration with Dr Amir Farokh Payam to design hardware and software components of the proposed scanning probe microscopy methodology and to establish calibration protocols. The postholder will also lead the preparation and experimental characterisation of perovskite solar cell materials and devices, using the developed MF-OL-KPFM platform to investigate charge transport, photovoltage dynamics, and surface potential variations. The role includes contributing to data acquisition, signal processing, and analysis of nanoscale electrical phenomena to advance understanding of advanced energy materials. This position is funded through a UKRI FLF Fellowship and thus offers opportunities for further training and career development. The provisional start date for this position is 1st October 2026. - ABOUT YOU - PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Nanotechnology, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. The position is for 40 (or 20) hours per week and involves an average teaching load of 24 (or 12) contact hours per semester. We are seeking a candidate who can cover both areas of aesthetic sports disciplines. Alternatively, there is the option of splitting the post by subject area and filling it with two candidates. In this case, the working hours would be 50% each, with an average teaching load of 12 contact hours per week for each candidate, with the option to increase this if required. Please state explicitly in your application whether you wish to apply for both areas (40 hours) or only for one (20 hours) of the two areas. Your future tasks: As a Senior Lecturer, you will be involved in teaching the subject of Movement and Sport, as well as in the Department of Sport and Movement, at Bachelor’s and Master’s level. Your core responsibilities will include delivering instructional courses in the field of aesthetic sports (movement experiences in floor exercises and artistic gymnastics and/or movement experiences in gymnastics, acrobatics and dance). You will play a coordinating role within the department in relation to the entrance examination. We expect the academic (further) development of teaching and learning content in modern formats You are expected to keep abreast of the current state of the art in the field and to undertake further didactic training during periods when you are not teaching. In addition, the role involves undertaking administrative tasks, particularly in the administration and organisation of teaching.
