Four Heineken Prizes are awarded biennially to outstanding international scientists and scholars. The prizes reward unique achievement in the fields of biochemistry and biophysics, medicine, environmental sciences and history. The selection of candidates is based on nominations received from other scientists or scientific institutions throughout the world.
