Royal Academy of Engineering's Sir Frank Whittle Medal will be awarded for the fifth time in 2005. It is awarded to an engineer, normally resident in the UK, for outstanding and sustained achievement which has contributed to the well-being of the nation. In 2005 the medal will be awarded for engineering innovations in energy.
