Frank Burchill, who is chairing talks between the Fire Brigades Union and employers, is to be director of a new Centre for Dispute Resolution at Keele University. The centre is the first of its kind in the UK. Professor Burchill is also the mediator in the settlement of the London Tube dispute, and was arbitrator in the recent Royal Mail dispute.
