Örebro University was established in 1999, although it can trace its roots back to a number of higher education programmes in Örebro which developed in the 1960s onward.

As a young university, Örebro prides itself on its modernity and broad range of academics. Over 80 undergraduate and master’s degrees are available with some 600 variations.

There are eight schools at Örebro: Business, Health Sciences, Hospitality, Culinary Arts and Meal Science, Humanities, Education and Social Sciences, Law, Psychology and Social Work, Medical Sciences, Music, Theatre and Art and Science and Technology.

The university also has a broad range of research programmes. They investigate over 35 different subjects in the arts, humanities, sciences and technology, in environments ranging from the Cardiovascular Research Centre to a forum for Narration, Life and Meaning.

Four campuses accommodate the different divisions of Örebro University. The main campus is located in Örebro itself. The university medical campus, Campus USÖ, opened in 2014 directly adjacent to the university hospital.

The city of Örebro sits between Stockholm and Gothenburg, making it easily accessible and, in return, giving easy access to the two largest cities in Sweden. Örebro itself is the seventh-largest, making it walkable and safe without losing out on attractions. There are plenty of cafes around the university where students can get a fika – coffee and cake – with friends or as a study break.

Requirements The Department seeks to appoint a Research Assistant Professor with expertise in ethics (especially in relation to population axiology, the ethics of technology, and related philosophical problems). Candidates should have a PhD in Philosophy (or related disciplines) by the start of the appointment, a record of publications in Philosophy, preferably in leading journals, and demonstrated capacity to obtain governmental grants. Candidates should have obtained/been conferred a PhD degree or an equivalent qualification for no more than five years prior to the commencement of the appointment. The appointee is expected to conduct focused research in ethics, publish scholarly outputs in respectable refereed international journals, and apply for competitive peer-reviewed grants offered by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council, other local/overseas competitive grants and/or fellowship schemes. Teaching experience at both undergraduate and taught master’s programme levels, as well as recipient of external grants (e.g. from a government body) is a definite advantage. Job Description The Geology and Sustainable Mining Institute (GSMI) department at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of Exploration of Moroccan sulfur resources in the sedimentary realm, within the framework of the OCP Sulfur 360° initiative. The successful candidate will contribute to a national-scale assessment of biogenic sulfur potential in Moroccan sedimentary basins. His work will combine GIS-based data collection and integration, fieldwork, mineralogical and geochemical characterization (gypsum, anhydrite, native sulfur). Ability to engage professionally with a diverse population of faculty, staff, students, and industrial partners (notably OCP) is required. Evidence of research excellence is expected. Strong French and English communication skills, both verbal and written, are required. Key Duties The successful candidate is expected to: Contribute to the construction of a national GIS-based database of sulfur occurrences and sulfur-bearing formations in Moroccan sedimentary basins (integration of geological, geophysical, geochemical and industrial data). Participate in the definition and refinement of exploration criteria and ranking methodology for native sulfur prospects (geological, mineralogical, geochemical, and structural controls). Plan and conduct field campaigns in selected basins (e.g., Neogene basins in the Rif, other prospective sedimentary basins) through sedimentological logging and systematic sampling. Coordinate and monitor laboratory analyses (in collaboration with GSMI platforms and external labs): Major elements (XRF-WDS); Total sulfur (C–S elemental analyzer); Minor and trace elements (ICP–MS); Sulfur isotopes (EA–IRMS) Integrate and interpret multidisciplinary datasets to characterize controls on native sulfur formation, produce prospectivity and risk maps at basin and national scale and contribute to the prioritization of sulfur targets and to the preparation of a ranked list of prospective areas. Prepare technical reports and deliverables for the project (including national-scale maps, databases, and synthesis documents) in line with the project Gantt and milestones. Publish scientific results in peer‑reviewed journals in a timely manner and contribute to at least one Q1 publication. Selection Criteria The position is open to candidates holding a PhD degree in Geology, Earth Sciences, Geochemistry, Sedimentology, Mining/Georesources Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Demonstrated expertise in at least two of the following areas: Sedimentary basin analysis and stratigraphy. Evaporite systems (gypsum, anhydrite) and/or diagenetic processes. Economic geology of sulfur or related mineral resources. Geochemical characterization of rocks and minerals (XRF, ICP‑MS, elemental analyzers, isotopes). Proven fieldwork experience in sedimentary geology and/or mineral exploration (mapping, logging, sampling, structural and stratigraphic observations). Ability to perform quantitative data analysis and integration, including QA/QC of analytical datasets and interpretation in a process‑based geological framework. Good written and spoken English and French, as well as solid presentation skills. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with an ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. Familiarity with Moroccan or North African geology is an advantage but not mandatory. Description The Center for Sand Hazards and Opportunities in Resilience, Energy, and Sustainability (SHORES) and the Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seek to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on a fascinating project focused on the geomechanical modeling for energy applications. The position will be directly supervised by Professor Mostafa Mobasher and will involve strong collaboration with the SHORES multidisciplinary research teams. The project will be focused on advanced modeling of coupled fracture/damage of geomechanical materials when subjected a range of multiphysical loading regimes including hydraulic, thermal, and chemical processes. The direct applications of these research will be aimed at enhanced modeling of hydraulic fracturing and carbon sequestration. The project activities will involve the development of the theory and implementation of the advanced mechanics and numerical models as well as constitutive model calibration and validation based on physical experimental data. Required Qualifications: A successful applicant must have a PhD in Engineering Mechanics, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
