Euan Blair wins place at Bristol
Tony Blair’s elder son Euan has won a place at Bristol University, Downing Street confirmed today. “Euan will study ancient history after gaining two ‘A’s and a ‘C’ grade in his A-levels as well as an ‘A’ in general studies. He is delighted and looking forward to going to a university which has such an excellent reputation”, said a Downing Street spokesman.    

DFES appointment to 'transform' post-16 learning
Jane Williams, principal of the City of Wolverhampton College, has been appointed director of teaching and learning at the Department for Education and Skills, where she will head a new standards unit for further education. The DFES said Ms Williams would be working closely with ministers and the Learning and Skills Council "to transform standards in post-16 learning by extending proven teaching methods and overhauling weak curriculum areas".

First public showing for 'unseen' Beatles footage
Previously unseen film footage of music legends the Beatles at Bangor Normal Colleges is to be shown to the public today. The footage shows the band at the college where they travelled to meet spiritual leader the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in August 1967. It was during the trip that the band learned of manager Brian Epstein’s suicide.
