Punk "did not die, it just moved east", researchers have claimed. A team led by Hilary Pilkington, professor of sociology at the University of Warwick, is researching why post-socialist punk has survived as a strong movement in Russia, eastern Germany and Croatia some 30 years since its cultural explosion in Britain. The project is being funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and will run for four years.
