A plan to hugely expand the University of Warwick was given approval by Coventry City Council planners last week. The university's built area would increase by 40 per cent under the plan, and student numbers would expand by a quarter to 24,500. The university is still awaiting permission from Warwick District Council, which may oppose the £400 million project because of the threat to green-belt land.
