University of Sussex - Supporting act

Students at the University of Sussex occupied a conference centre, Bramber House, in protest at more than 100 planned staff redundancies. "The decision to occupy has been taken after weeks of concerted campaigning during which the university management has repeatedly failed to take away the threat of compulsory redundancies and course cuts," the students say in a statement. "We recognise that an attack on education workers is an attack on us." The Sussex students occupied the centre for more than 24 hours. Students at the University of Lincoln and Bishop Grosseteste University College Lincoln also held protests at funding cuts.
