Aerospace, energy, marine and automobile industries are to benefit from a new research centre focusing on manufacturing technologies. The £25 million Advanced Forming Research Centre is a joint venture between the University of Strathclyde and engineering firms including Boeing and Rolls-Royce. Scheduled to open in Renfrewshire early next year, it has the backing of Scotland's First Minister, Alex Salmond.
