A centre to improve wind power technology has opened at the University of Sheffield. The Sheffield-Siemens Wind Power Research Centre (SWP) will focus on developing the most reliable and efficient wind turbine generators. It will employ about 20 people, with a fundamental element of the collaboration being access to 70 academic and research personnel in Sheffield's department of electronic and electrical engineering. Staff will also be able to use Sheffield's state-of-the-art facilities.
