The mysterious world of the Freemasons is to come under scrutiny in a new journal launched by the University of Sheffield's Centre for Research into Freemasonry and Fraternalism. The first-ever peer-reviewed journal on the organisation is published by Equinox under the editorship of the centre's director Andreas Onnerfors. Freemasonry is one of the world's oldest secular fraternal societies, and the Sheffield centre is the only one in UK higher education devoted to scholarly research of the topic.
