University of Reading - Tax doesn't have to be taxing

Dealing with mortgage and tax forms may be less of a chore if a new project succeeds. The scheme at the University of Reading, funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council, aims to make complicated documents easier to understand. Academics and postgraduate students in graphic design, applied linguistics, human factors and psychology are joining information design specialists and users of financial services and healthcare to scrutinise documents covering benefits, tax, health, pensions and mortgages. The project will be run from the university's Simplification Centre, which focuses on how to make complex information clearer.
