Cheltenham Borough Council and the University of Gloucestershire are launching a joint bid for Heritage Lottery funding to redevelop Pittville Park in Cheltenham. Opened in 1825, the large ornamental park includes Grade I-listed pump rooms and a boating lake. Vice-chancellor Patricia Broadfoot said: "The planning (for the park) provides a useful space for thinking about the future and finding ways of creating sustainable communities that can adapt and thrive in the changing conditions of the 21st century. We are very enthusiastic and supportive of the plans for Pittville Park, which is one of the great jewels of Cheltenham."
