An online database developed by an international group of researchers, including staff at the University of Exeter, could help tourists in France to understand insults hurled their way by rude waiters. The database of obscene terms used in Renaissance France, compiled by 30 researchers from the UK, France, the US, Switzerland and the Netherlands, contains terms that would still be considered rude today - from sexual double entendres to scatological insults. http://groups.exeter.ac.uk/obscenity/.
