Researchers at the University of Dundee have uncovered previously unknown genes in the E. coli organism that could provide clues to the origin of disease. The study, funded by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council, found three genes that are crucial to the survival of the bug. One of them is also found in humans, which could be crucial in understanding the causes of disease.
