A degree in sports public relations will be offered from September at the University of Central Lancashire. Phil Townsend, course validator and director of communications for Manchester United Football Club, said: "This will fill a gap in the market. Sports communication is becoming more sophisticated. Having a flair for writing and a nose for publicity are no longer enough."
