The former commissioner of the Metropolitan Police is to provide training for senior police officers in India in a partnership agreed with the University of Cambridge.
Under a three-year scheme signed by the university's Institute of Criminology and the National Police Academy of India, Cambridge will offer mid-career tuition to 420 members of the elite Indian Police Service. Sir Ian Blair, the former head of the Met who stepped down in December 2008, will co-direct the programme alongside Lawrence Sherman, Wolfson professor of criminology.
