A centre billed as the "UK's newest university" opened this week. University Centre Folkestone, a collaboration between Canterbury Christ Church University and the University of Greenwich, is recruiting to a range of degree programmes, including performing arts and business and management. Roger De Haan, chair of the Creative Foundation, a charity that houses the centre, said: "Folkestone has never had its own university provision before ... many of its brightest young people have been forced to leave to pursue their education. Most never return."
