Strikes are threatened at Bournemouth University over eight threatened redundancies in law, accountancy and business. College and university lecturers' union Natfhe is to ballot for action, arguing that the university, which is heading for a surplus this year, should be able to avoid redundancies in departments that have run up deficits. A spokesman for the university said it had already reduced the number of threatened redundancies from 11 to eight through redeployment and was hoping to do the same for the rest.
