Stick to quality

I am president of a college where students earn what we call associates degrees. I hope British institutions contemplating associates degrees think beyond the narrowly vocational ("Two-year vocational degrees expected to win support from employers", THES, October 22). I cannot stress how important it is for tomorrow's workforce to have a high level of general education.
